After wearing braces for a long time, there’s nothing more frustrating than white spots on your teeth once you finally finish treatment! However, white spots are a common concern caused by the brackets and wires that make it difficult to properly clean your teeth during orthodontic care.

But with resin infiltration, we may be able to fix those white spots. This innovative treatment option works well after orthodontic treatment, as well as for fluorosis and hypoplasia.

Let’s take a look at how resin infiltration may be able to enhance your smile’s natural beauty.

What Is Resin Infiltration?

We use a special liquid resin to fix white spots on your teeth, often without any drilling or anesthetic. Resin infiltration fills the microscopic pores in your tooth enamel, hiding the white spots and giving you a more aesthetically pleasing smile.

The Resin Infiltration Process

Here are the steps we follow for this noninvasive treatment option:

  • Cleaning and isolation — First, we’ll clean your teeth and place a rubber sheet over the area to keep it dry during treatment.
  • Etching and drying — Then, we’ll place a special acid gel onto your teeth; this opens the blocked pores in your enamel. After a few minutes, we’ll rinse it off and apply a drying agent.
  • Resin application — We’ll place the resin on each tooth and allow it to soak in for a few minutes, wiping away any excess.
  • Curing — Using a special light, we’ll harden the resin. This can cause it to shrink a little.
  • Second application — We’ll add another layer of resin and cure it with the special light.
  • Polishing — To give you a smooth, natural look, we’ll polish your teeth and show you the remarkable results!
